Brian Cox photo by Gia Milinovich Coinciding with the start of the annual Ithaca Festival, John "MelodySheep" Boswell is releasing the next piece from his Symphony Of Science project. Fans will be thrilled that not only does Carl Sagan return, but he's singing with one of his most famous admirers: Brian Cox. Already known to the British, but not as well-known in North America, Cox is a musician-turned-PhD in subatomic physics who has also followed in Carl's footsteps to become a science popularizer.  He's already done two segments on the BBC regarding the influence Carl Sagan had on him.

John and Brian have each in their own way done much to turn a new generation on to Carl Sagan's work and science in general, so it's fitting that John has brought Carl and Brian together this way.  Would it be too outlandish to hope that these two collaborate on music together?  Maybe to perhaps, mark the 30th anniversary of the release of COSMOS this Sept 28th?  It never hurts to plant an idea.

We don't want to overlook that Bob Zubrin and Penny Boston are also in the song and music video.

John has kindly provided Sagan Appreciation Society members a preview of "The Case For Mars" prior to its public release.  You can view the video below, or try an easier direct Save-As operation here.  Some people have previously reported slow throughput from the Colorpulse site- if you're one of them you can try being one of the 99 people who can download it here. After 99 downloads or 7 days, you'll have to use the other method.  Mac users may need the proper codecs to view the .WMV video.

You may tweet and share this SAS page. Remember, it's not done yet, so tell your friends to not break anything.

Usually, voting is choosing the lesser of two evils. Not this time.

John Boswell's first Symphony Of Science song ("A Glorious Dawn") is up for a prestigious Webby Award.

Here's how to vote for MelodySheep and Carl Sagan in the People's Choice Award:

Webby Awards will prompt you to sign up (it really is quick and painless, we promise),  then you get an email back with your activation link which brings you to the Webby Awards site to cast your vote.

Once there, use the top link to "Online Film and Video" (red strip with white text in the upper left quadrant of page). Select Next Screen, then click the thumbnail that says "Video Remixes and Mashups".  Then vote for Carl Sagan - A Glorious Dawn - Cosmos Remixed.

There's also another interesting link here which may look differently depending on whether you've signed in to Webby Awards or YouTube. It appears that after voting for John "MelodySheep" Boswell & Carl Sagan you can leave comments. Please do!

Post this SAS artcle/link to Twitter, Facebook, etc. Let's rally for Carl and John and his Symphony Of Science projects.
